PhD Scholarship

Applications for University of Otago PhD Scholarships close on November 1, 2010.

The Department of Economics is especially interested in students wishing to do research in the following areas: economic growth and development, labour economics, applied microeconometrics, health, applied macroeconomics, international macroeconomics, energy economics, multi-criteria decision making and the economics of sport.

Note that the PhD in Economics at Otago is by thesis only; there is no course work component. To gain entry to the programme you need to have a Masters degree (with a research component) or a four-year Honours degree (with a research component). To have a chance of getting a scholarship you need to have excellent grades (the vast majority of your grades would need to be in the A range).

The Scholarships cover fees and an annual living allowance (for three years) of 20,000 New Zealand dollars.
