The School of Business is committed to developing a pro-active, coordinated approach to growing Maori and Indigenous economies through a mix of relationship building, growing context aware students, curriculum development and seeking and realising research opportunities.
Maori Business Objectives
- Quantify our student profile to establish best practice models of ensuring both programme relevance and student success.
- Develop and sustain mutually beneficial relationships with key strategic business partners.
- Develop undergraduate curriculum that reflects Maori economic participation, past present and future and that legitimises Maori knowledges.
- Develop a specialised post graduate programme that builds on the undergraduate BCom programme.
- Develop executive education programmes that focus on the relvant needs of Maori communities.
- "Educate" educators in the significance of the Maori economy, past present and future.
- Develop and attract Maori researchers focusing on Maori economic development.
- Develop coherent research themes based on the needs of our partners and the skills of our researchers.
- To have the research output of the School of Business in conjunction with Institutional partners and Strategic Business Partners recognised internationally.
- Work with a philosophy of inclusivity, acknowledging the need to work collaboratively across the School, institution and with other institutions where necessary in order to reach desired outcomes.
Maori Student Support

Maori Business Events
In 2008 the School of Business held the Maori Business Symposium, with the theme of Intergenerational Wealth: Re-igniting Indigenous Economies. This was followed up in 2009 with the Maori Business Forum.
