Research & Business

The School of Business exists to push the boundaries of business knowledge and education, therefore engaging with the corporate world is vital in ensuring that both are relevant to the current business environment. There are numerous opportunities for the business community to become involved in School of Business research activities.

Staff Research

Every academic staff member at the School is a researcher. If you have an idea that has potential for detailed investigation, one of our researchers may wish to take it on as a research project.

The School has a range of research centres focusing on a particular discipline or domain, for example the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Marketing Performance Centre, Centre for Business and the Environment, and Information Technology research centres.

A growing specialty is Maori business, being developed in conjunction with business, iwi bodies and government agencies.

See the Research section for further information on School research activities, or if you have a business question, concern or idea that may warrant investigation, contact us: business@otago.ac.nz.

Student Research

Your business concern may be a perfect research project for a student or group of students.

A number of School programmes and papers require students to conduct independent (supervised) research into a real business problem. The research carried out varies in scope and depth of investigation, but all students involved in such projects are at an advanced level of study (fourth year or higher). With papers covering almost every angle of business, we can help.
