Am I Eligible to Become an Intern?
To be eligible to be an intern at Otago's School of Business, you must meet the following requirements:
- A great attitude!
- Will have completed two years of your BCom/BCom(Hons) degree at the end of 2011
- Normally have a B+ average
- Not a finalist - you will not be admitted to the Internship Programme if the completion of BSNX 301 coincides with completion of your degree, ie you must return to Otago after you finish your Internship.
- On completion of your internship, you must have at least one semester remaining of your BCom, including some 300-level major requirements.
- You are not an international student - unfortunately international students are not eligible to become an intern as current immigration policy does not allow International students to work full-time during their studies.
- Have completed the Internship Training Programme - semester two
Your study plans for after your Internship also affects whether you are eligible to apply - this will be discussed with the Internship Coordinator and Academic Leader when applying for the Internship Training Programme.
Important Note
No student is guaranteed of an internship position - admission is competitive and only those students who successfully complete the Internship Training Programme and are suitable to be an Intern will be approved to apply for Internship positions. Employers seeking interns have the right to appoint who they wish into an internship role.
