Aurelia has a Masters degree in "Health Economics in Developing
Countries" from the Centre d’Etudes et de Recherche sur
le Developpement International (CERDI) that she completed with an
internship at the World Bank. She joined the PhD program at Otago
in late 2009 after having spent one year in Senegal working for
a program of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on an impacts
evaluation of a health insurance scheme for agricultural workers.
During this work, she collected a baseline dataset on households
and health facilities in the Saint Louis region, thanks to the support
of the Microinsurance Innovation Facility. Her PhD will focus on
health economics in rural Senegal using a microeconomic approach.
She obtained the prize for the best doctoral project in health economics
from Glaxo-Smith-Kline in 2009.
