Alumni and Careers
Alumni - keep in touch!
We like to keep you, our graduates, up to date. One way this is achieved is through regular postings of the 'Otago' magazine. Apart from keeping you up to speed with University developments, it also contains details of alumni events. These are a great way for you to catch up with friends and some of your favourite lecturers who are always keen to see how things are going for you.
On a professional note, these events also provide fantastic opportunities for you to make new contacts with colleagues from your chosen profession.
However ... we can't keep you posted if we don't know where you are! Because our graduates seem to find themselves in demand in almost every corner of the world, it's important that you let us know where you are and what you're up to.
We've made this task very simple for you. You can update your details by visiting the Alumni homepage.

Careers
Where will marketing take me?
Marketing is a people-oriented commerce subject and the career options it offers are exciting, challenging, and rewarding. Because it is such a broad based discipline, our marketing graduates find themselves well equipped to work in a huge variety of roles within organisations large and small, ranging across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
Like some of our former graduates, you may end up as part of a graduate training programme with such well-known companies as Nestlé, L'Oréal or Tip Top. Or, you may choose to work for a smaller organisation offering equally stimulating career opportunities ranging from sales to advertising or market research to market analysis.
How can we help?
We understand that launching a successful career can be a daunting task for graduates. To assist this process, our department assists the University Careers Advisory Service with regular on-campus employer presentations. We also maintain regular contact with a diverse group of more than 1100 organisations, many of whom think very favourably of Otago graduates when making employment decisions.
